Why was Arjun beloved of his Guru ?
Most people believe that Dronacharya was partial towards Arjun but actually he was not. He was partial towards one person only, his son Ashwathama . Not only Dronacharya almost everyone liked Arjun, it is because of the person he was. A kind man who is always ready to forgive, ready to give up his ego and willing enough to learn. Dronacharya started to like him seeing his devotion for his Guru. Dronacharya was teaching the Kuru princes for the sake of taking revenge from his friend Drupad. Before starting with their education he informed them about his Gurdakshina and asked them if they will fulfill his wish. All of them were silent but Arjun immediately made a vow to take the revenge for his Guru. At this point Dronacharya hugs and and starts to cry. When the princes were staying in the Ashram, learning the art of warfare from Dronacharya, he used to give them pots to fill them with water during the break. Everyone got a pot with a small opening except for Ashwathama. So
